Rachel Caine once again does not disappoint!! I truly thought this series was over with book 3. I didn’t really see it going anywhere else seeing how her husband was killed and all three books revolved around that conflict. So when I saw a fourth book I was thrilled!

I did wonder if I would like a fourth book because again I wasn’t sure where it could go. But this book did not disappoint.

Gwen is hired as an a private investigator to track down this couples son. Little did she know the company tracking down the young man had an ulterior motive. And what she believes will be a relatively simple investigation is quite the opposite. It once again brings her, Sam and her children into the world of danger.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. You don’t want to put it down you will finish this in one sitting.

Thank you @susyapprovedbooktours, @frankstausser and @rarebirdlit for including me in this book tour. It was a pleasure to read.

Review:

Pʅαʂƚιƈ Bყ Fɾαɳƙ Sƚαυʂʂҽɾ

This book caught me by surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I do have to admit that the cover kind of throws you. You’re not really sure what you’re getting into until you start reading it.

William is a famous Hollywood plastic surgeon. He has a couple events in his life that kind of throws him off his game. His wife has recently left him and one of his patients died soon after their procedure. He finds himself making decisions that he typically would not do. He is called to the scene of an accident were an up-and-coming star needs his help. However once he starts working on her he’s not quite sure that the story he is given is what actually had happened. Is he covering up a crime or is he helping a young girl?

I really did enjoy this book it is quite suspenseful. I loved how the author threw in some real life Hollywood events as well. That kept it interesting I even ended up googling a few things to see if they really did happen. Again thank you for including me in this tour it was my pleasure to read this book.

I received this book from St. Martins Press in return for my honest review:

I had no idea going into to this book that it was part of a series. With that being said it was great as a stand alone. I didn't feel as if I was missing information by not reading the first 7 books. I actually want to work backwards now and start at the beginning that is how much I enjoyed the book.

The Cold Way Home is set in a small town rich with problems! Ackers Gap WV. It follows Bell Elkins as she try's to uncover a murder that many don't understand. Bell is an former prosecutor who has starting an investigation business with Nick (a former sheriff) and Jake (a former deputy). While trying to track down a killer Bell learns some disturbing history about the town she has grown up in. A very well kept secret in a very small town. While uncovering the truth she finds herself in a bit of a jam. Who killed Darla and what happened at Wellwood??

I went into this book wanting to love it. It had the base of a thriller that I enjoy. A murder mystery that you know couldn't be as obvious as it being the jilted lover. However, I felt the start of the book was a bit slow. Natalie seemed very immature for her age. Maybe that could be the small town aspect of her upbringing. It did pick up as Natalie became a sugar baby. At first it was all fun and money. Till she goes and catches feelings right away, apparently she forgot what she was there for. When the sugar daddy, Gabe, realized he wanted more from his own life and cut Natalie loose well then we see how unstable of a girl she is. I didn't hate this book but I didn't love it either. Natalie was just too vindictive for me.

Thank You NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in return for my honest review.

My rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Thank You NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest review.

Synopsis:

Maddie is a famous photographer who is very happy with her life the way it is. She has three successful grown children who are just as busy with their life as she is with hers. So she has gotten use to the lack of contact. One night at home while cleaning out a closet she falls off a ladder and breaks her leg. He eldest daughter is sure its a sign of old age and feels her mother should prepare herself for the changes that are sure to come. Maddie is hurt by all this and scared, what if her daughter is right. She sets off on a pilgrimage to see how some of her most cherished men are doing. To see if she was right in letting each go or if there is a flame still burring.  She drives from New Your all the way to the west cost. She begins to find herself along the trip and maybe something unexpected at the same time.

My thoughts:

This book dragged out in the beginning, I actually didn't get fully invested till about the middle of the story. Even then I skimmed some parts because the repetitiveness of some of the points made thoughout the book.

However once the story got on I will say it moved me. I loved the blooming relationship with her children and her new relationship. I would say that if you love Danielle Steel you will love this book. Sure there may be a few spots that I feel could have been shorted or left out but it is a good read.

Spoiler! Coming from a broken home I was able to relate to this book. My heart hurt for Adrienne as all she wanted was to be loved by her mother. But at what cost?

This book is about a mother/Malabar who needs a friend more then a daughter. She tells her daughter her upmost secrets at the tender age of 14. Adrienne is as any 14 year old girl, wanting the attention and close relationship this has given her. However Adrienne has a hard time breaking away from her mother, even into her 30's. This cost of this relationship is more then Adrienne could ever have imagined.

This was not an easy read for me as I come from a home of abuse, physical and mental. This poor girl could not be a child because her mother took that away from her so she could talk to her about her lover. Each time Adrienne tried to pull away, to have a normal relationship Malabar would get upset with her. She would act like the one wounded. Adrienne would have to comfort her rather then be the one comforted as it should have been. In a result she had bad relationships after bad relationship. Thankfully she found someone to ground her and help pull her out of making the same mistakes as her mother.

Overall I enjoyed the book and it was nice to see Adrienne find happiness within making her own family and finding someone to truly love her unconditionally.

Abbie wakes up in what she believes to be a hospital room with no recollection on how she got there. She has her husband by her side however things seem odd. Little by little she notices things that don't seem right. Then Tim explains that she is in fact a robot. He has made a replica of his missing wife. His perfect wife! As you start to piece things together you're not so sure that is true. Or even which one to trust. Tim the silicone valley tycoon or the information you have been putting together about Abbie.

I have been doing this a lot lately, going in blind and it has worked out great with this book. I didn't read a review previously so I was unsure what to expect. I am the last person to pick up a sci-fi book yet it was great! I was caught up in what Abbie would find out about the "real Abbie". I wanted to see what Tim's reasoning behind making a robot of his missing wife. It all comes together nicely with a twist in the end I had no idea coming. (Two of them actually)

If you like a good psychological thriller you will love The Perfect Wife!

Thank you NetGalley and Sandie Jones for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

WOW is what I think when I think of this book! It was amazing throughout. I couldn't put it down and even fought sleep to finish it.

Alice fights each day with the loss of her husband from 10 years earlier. She has remarried to a man she believes saved her from wreckage. Nathan is by her side in every way. At home to help raise their daughter and the daughter from her first husband. He works with her in the company her and her first husband build. He is very supportive in every way she needs. Or is he?

Alice does not befriend women so easily so when her and Beth become close it means everything to Alice. She can confide in her with just about anything. Beth knows of the struggle Alice had dealing with the loss of her husband. However Beth has her secrets too!

This book has me from the start. Just when you think you have it all figured out there is another turn you didn't see coming. This book is full of suspense just the way I like it. I can see it being a huge hit this summer.

Thank you NetGalley and Wendy Walker for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. If you have ever tried online dating then you should read this. This is everyone's fear come true, or is it? Laura feels worthless in the eyes of men. She just recently went though a break up. She then decided to move back home in with her sister Laura and her husband Joe. Its a cozy little family with a childhood friend that is always around, Gabe. All four grew up together in this little town, forever friends.

Laura scours on online dating site for what she feels is the perfect man. However during there date she is constantly looking for reasons as to why he may not be so perfect after all.

This book is very well written. Between Rosie's relationship with her sister and Laura being a bit off balance it keeps you on your toes. I enjoyed the book from start to finish. I recommend preordering this book, if you like suspense you have it here! One of the best books I have read this year!

Thank You NetGalley and Kendra Elliot for this ARC. In return I promise to give an honest review.

I do enjoy Kendra Elliots writing. I have read a few other novels written by her and have enjoyed them all. This book started off fast paced and right to the point. Mercy Kilpatrick an FBI agent goes undercover with an anti government militia. She is not allowed to tell her future husband and police chief Truman Daly anything about the assignment. Just that she is leaving and will be gone what she thinks two weeks.

This book moves right along and keeps the reader in suspense. This is nothing I like more then a book that keeps you wanting to turn the page. This book did that for me. With not knowing where Mercy was and Truman not giving up it did have a small romantic role within the book.

I would say the only part that left me thinking "really". Was when Mercy escapes. I felt with her injuries coupled with the distance required to travel not many would make such a hike. However this is a book and lets face it Mercy is your female badass! I have enjoyed this series and sad that its the last book. I do look forward to more books by
Elliot and a cameo of these two characters. .

I received an ARC of Blindsided by Kate Watterson from NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books. This in no way influenced my review. This is an honest review. The novel will be released July 9, 2019.

Summery

Cadence feels she is in danger from a man she knew all though school. In her 30's now she feels the need to flee her home to be safe, but she has no idea where she is driving to. Of course it has to be the worst snow storm and her car breaks down. She gets help from a passerby, Mick. She is reluctant to accept his help but feels she has no choice due to the conditions outside. Here she is stranded with this handsome man for days. In his cabin they have nothing to do but talk due to the snow store. During the time together they become very close. She tells him how she feels a man from high school Dirk, is after her because she knows he killed her friend. Yet she can't prove it.

Cadence and Mick travel back to Indiana where she lives. In attempt to try and track down Dirk. The hunt for a killer is on but who will be next? Will they prevail in the end? Will this be too much for Mick to take on?

Review

There is something to be said for reading a book with no prior knowledge of the Author or of the book. You can read it and have an unbiases opinion for it. This is my first book by Kate Watterson.

With that being said I did really enjoy the beginning. When Cadence was snowed in with the hunk Mick in his cabin. You wanted to see them get closer and fall in love. That's what books are made for. But once they left the cabin to face off with Dirk, the mass murder it fell apart for me. There were times when I couldn't follow along, I had no clue who was talking and had to go back and reread it to figure it out.

Mick was the knight in shinning armor and Cadence was a very independent woman who at times didn't want the knight. They are a cute couple and you do start to get attached to them. Once the book starts to pick up and Dirk is after Cadence so his secrets stay hidden you get reinvested in all charters. He is hell bent on stopping Cadence, the FBI and Mick from getting in his way.

If your looking for a thriller you will find it here. It has many good qualities, I just felt that the whole story could have been a little stronger.

Thank You #NettGalley and #KateWatterson #Blindsided

Going to fancy restaurants and bars, something Lucy never dreamed of. Then one night out Amber tells Lucy she has a stalker. Lucy is determined to protect Amber at all costs. But what will that cost be?

Review:

This is my first time reading a book by Sue Watson. I also didn't read any reviews prior to reading the book so I was very unsure what to expect. All Her Secrets was a page turner for me. I enjoyed the book from beginning to end.

I thought the suspense and mystery in this book was extremely good. However a bit predictable. I had the "who done it" figured out in the first few chapters. That didn't stop me from loving the book. At that point I had to see if I was right.

I will admit Lucy's character was a bit frustrating. She had this need to please everyone, especially Amber, even if it was something she was not too keen on.

Overall it was an enjoyable read with a twist at the end that I did not see coming. I definitely recommend reading this book! I will also be looking for more novels by Sue Watson.
